It has hitherto without doubt been a very turbulent presidential campaign. Donald Trump led an insurgency in the republican party that shocked many of the pundits, winning the primaries against all the odds. On the democrat side there was also an insurgency in the form of Democratic Socialist Bernie Sanders, a senator from Vermont, although this of course ultimately proved unsuccessful and Clinton triumphed.
So now it will be Trump vs Clinton and come November 8 one of them will be granted a mandate to govern the United States by the voters.
According to the running average on the site RealClearPolitics Clinton is currently leading her republican opponent by 1.3%
RealClearPolitics Average
Hillary Clinton 45.3%
Donald Trump 44.0%
