Many people have been asking how the recent presidential debate between Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton has affected the polling data in the race to the White House. It is a bit soon to ascertain that completely, however the latest polling shows that Hillary Clinton has at least maintained her lead over the republican contender.

Most commentators agreed that despite a good start, Trump faded badly after about 30 minutes of the debate leading Clinton to emerge victorious. It is unclear if it will be enough for her to shake the businessman who had been closing the gap in recent weeks, especially in key swing states.

A very serious incident has occured in New Jersey, United States, with a train crashing into a station at high speed. It is being treated as a major incident, with at least 3 dead and over 100 injured.

So we have had the first debate, Trump vs Clinton, a blockbuster showdown that attracted 100 million viewers, making it the most viewed in history.

Most people believe that Hillary Clinton emerged triumphant as Trump seemed to melt down about 30 minutes into the debate, having been the stronger during the first section.

According to the latest poll data the race remains a close run affair, although it is not clear how much Monday`s debate will affect the numbers.

A man  was shot by El Cajon Police after police claim he was behaving “erratically” and failed to comply with orders. Witness accounts, from alleging officers confiscated cellphones from people in the area to the victim being shot with his hands up, are being disputed by police.
UPDATE: The man has been identified as Alfred Olango.

A total of more than 100 million people tuned in to view the first presidential debate that took place today Monday 26 September.

This makes it the must viewed presidential debate in american history, broadcast on a whole host of networks and also online via Facebook and Twitter.

The event which took place at Hofstra University in New York had been keenly anticipated for months and certainly did not disappoint, with the candidates clashing on a number of key issues, including the economy and foreign policy.

As would be expected, there are a multiplicity of views on who won the debate, with some thinking Trump was triumphant and others Hillary Clinton.

Colorado is considered one of the key swing states in this year`s presidential election. In 2008 Obama won the state with a 9 point margin, this was reduced to 5.4 points in 2012.

According to the RealClearPolitics running average, Clinton leads by 3.7%, this signals a reduction in her lead from prior weeks, largely due to an Emerson poll which showed Trump winning by 4 points.

As recently as the end of August this average showed Clinton up by more than 11 points, so there seems to be little doubt that the race is tightening here.

Colorado is certainly a state that Trump would hope to win in order to boost his chances of victory on November 8.
