Government Shutdown January 19 2018

This Friday a government shutdown is looming in the United States at midnight. It would be the first such occurrence in 4 years.

A government shutdown happens when the President and Congress do not pass appropriations legislation which would allow for the funding of different agencies and government functions.

Democrats are demanding concessions from the President in order to raise the debt ceiling and thus prevent a shutdown of the government, which occurred twice under President Obama (in 2011 and 2013).

The main points of contention are the Children`s Health Insurance Program and the non deportation of so-called dreamers, both of these issues are of vital importance to the democratic minority.

Fake News Awards 2018 Winners

Donald Trump gleefully took to his favorite medium of communication on Wednesday evening, announcing the winners of his "Fake News Awards".

The New York Times and CNN were the media outlets most frequently named by Trump, who has rallied against "Fake News" since the beginning of his campaign in 2015.

Despite some setbacks in his agenda, the President has managed to maintain the loyalty of his base, the majority of whom do not trust the mainstream media and accuse them of political bias.

John Mccain, Republican Senator from Arizona and previous presidential candidate John Mccain, who is a longtime foe of the President, immediately distanced himself from Trump´s actions. "The phrase "fake news" granted legitimacy by an American president is being used by autocrats to silence reporters, undermine political opponents, stave off media scrutiny and mislead citizens" he wrote.

Will there be a war with North Korea? December 2017

In recent days there has been a serious ratcheting up of the rhetoric between the United States and North Korea, this coming amid large-scale air drills between the world superpower and their ally South Korea.

The habitual bellicose tirades have been voiced by the regime in Pyongyang, claiming that the US is "Begging for nuclear war". In addition a missile launch originated from the hermit state just a few days ago after a two month lull in activity, the US affirms that the object was an ICBM, suggesting that Kim Jong-Un is edging ever closer to nuclear strike capability on the United States.

President Donald Trump for his part, used his first speech at the UN in September to vow to "Totally destroy" North Korea, should it threaten the US, striking a notably harsher tone compared to his predecessors.

Another sign of increasing unease at the current climate is the fact that Republican Senator Lindsey Graham has urged the Pentagon to start evacuating US military families from South Korea.

José Inés Garcia Zárate, an illegal immigrant who was charged with the killing of Kate Steinle, has been absolved of the murder. Although he still faces possible gun charges relating to the incident which occurred in in July 2015.

This particular case has taken on myriad angles, after becoming a key campaigning point for President Trump during his 2016 presidential run.

Zárate had previously been deported from the United States five times and was currently being sought in order to be deported once again when the incident took place, which he alleged happened after taking sleeping pills that he found in a dumpster, then accidentally firing a gun he also found. North Korea Declared State Sponsor of Terrorism

North Korea has become the fourth country on the list of state terrorism sponsors following an announcement by Donald Trump at the White House this Monday.

“Today the United States is designating North Korea a state sponsor of terrorism,” declared Trump, adding that “It should have happened a long time ago, should have happened years ago.”

The tension between the US and North Korea has been ratcheting up over the past few months since Trump took office, with the commander in chief even using his speech at the UN to declare that the US would have no choice but to "totally destroy North Korea" were the US or any of its allies threatened by the rogue state.

Predictions for the United States 2017

The year 2017 looks like being a very eventful one for the United States, not least due to the fact that a new President will be in place, Donald Trump.

Trump has indicated that he wishes to take the country in a very different direction compared to the last years and decades, as his campaign motto would indicate "make America great again".

Since his victory, protests have erupted across the country, from New York to Los Angeles, these undertaken by people upset by Trump`s stated policies, such as to construct a wall on the southern border of the US and to restrict immigration.

Another big event will be the total eclipse which will take part on August 21, the first of these such astronomical phenomenon to be seen in the United States since 1979. Only a small corridor of the US will see a full eclipse, although most of the country will see at least 80% of the sun covered by our natural satellite.

Predictions for Donald Trump in 2017

Donald Trump has been chosen as the President of the United States in the elections undertaken on November 8, however, he will not be officially sworn in until January 20, 2017.

To say that his campaign was controversial, is a major understatement, he offended many who disagreed with his stated policies, especially when it came to both illegal and Muslim immigration.

One of his policies is to construct a great wall on the southern border of the United States in order to stop people entering the country illegally from Mexico and Central America. He also called for a complete shutdown of Muslims entering the US, although he later walked back on this a little, saying that it would apply only to people from certain countries.

Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton have wished Trump well during his presidency, what do you think? Will Trump make a good President?

Connecticut Exit Poll Today November 8 2016

Connecticut is considered a solidly blue state, that is to say, democrat.

Since 1992 Connecticut has opted for the democrats in presidential races, sometimes by a very large margin.

This year it is considered a "safe" state for Hillary clinton, this is due to polls which show her with a large margin that is not expected to be overturned by Trump.

The state offers only 7 electoral votes and the results are expected to start coming in after the polls close on the evening of November 8, we will keep you informed.

Colorado Exit Poll Today 11/8/2016

Colorado is one of the key states in the presidential race this year.

Despite only having 9 electoral votes, there is a lot of attention being placed here, given that the state has fluctuated between republican and democrat over the last few election cycles.

Between 1996 and 2004 the state voted republican and then in 2008 and 2012 they switched to vote democrat, voting for the President Barack Obama. Amazingly Colorado has voted for the overall winner of the election in 8 out of the last 9 presidential races.

The polls from the state have been quite volatile and nothing is certain, however, as soon as we have the first results, they will be published here.

Exit Poll Today 11/8/2016 Trump Clinton

Donald Trump is loved by some, hated by others. He has been a very different type of political candidate than has been seen before.

On the other hand, Hillary Clinton has tried to put herself across as a more stable and experienced candidate as a better alternative to Trump.

The first results should start being published as the night wears on, and once a candidate has passed 270 electoral votes, they will be declared the winner, to be inaugurated in 2017.

Arkansas has voted republican since 1996 (When they voted for Bill Clinton).

In fact in each election since 1996 the republicans have increased their share of the vote, in 2012 Mitt Romney secured 60.6% of the vote, compared to 36.9% for President Obama.

Polls at the national level have been quite unstable and we will not know who is the new president until one of the candidates has passed the magic mark of 270 electoral votes.

Results Arkansas Presidential Election 2016 : Awaiting results

Arizona Exit Poll Today November 8 2016

Alaska Exit Poll Today November 8 2016

Alaska is the northernmost state in the America, sparsely populated, it has a mere 3 electoral votes which are given to the winner.
