Results Bernie Sanders New York Primary April 19 2016

Bernie Sanders has been the great surprise in the Democratic Primaries this year. Running on a platform of democratic socialism he has attracted massive crowds who say they want to see a fairer society.

Today voters in New York will go to the polls to decide with Democratic candidate best represents their views and values. According to recent polling Hillary Clinton holds a lead over Sanders in the northern state but her advantage has been eroded slightly following a string of Sanders victories since the end of April.

A win for the Senator from Vermont in New York could be an excellent stepping stone going into the next primaries on April 26, when 5 more states will go to the polls and a large amount of delegates are at stake.

In a recent interview Sanders claimed that he believes the superdelegates will begin to defect to his cause as he begins to win more states across the country.

As soon as the first results are available they will be published here.

New York Primary Exit Polls 19/4/2016

Today voters in the state of New York will have the opportunity to voice their opinions on who should represent their party in the 2016 presidential election.

On the Democrat side, Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton will battle it out in a race that is becoming closer than many analysts had at first thought. Excluding superdelegates, who support Clinton in overwhelming numbers and the race is pretty close.

As for the Republicans Donald Trump maintains a healthy lead in the delegate count but it remains to be seen whether or not he will reach the amount that he needs in order to put the nomination beyond doubt.

Recent polling suggest that Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump are the favorites going into the New York Primary but we will await the first exit polls to have an indication who is winning.

New York Republican Primary 2016 Date

New York is of utmost importance in the Republican Race for the nomination due to the fact it has a significant population and thus many delegates are on offer, a total of 95 to be exact.

The New York Primary is closed and adopts the winner-take-most format.

Hitherto Donald Trump`s progress has been arresting, winning state after state despite most analysts at first considering that his run for the White House was a joke or a mere publicity stunt.

A recent poll showed him at 64% in New York, well above Ted Cruz on 12%, although other polls have showed him polling slightly lower, it would be significant if he broke through the 50% barrier as he would win all the 95 delegates on offer.

The primary in New York takes place on April 19.
