Donald Trump Speech RNC Live July 21 2016

As expected Donald Trump has been officially nominated as the candidate for the Republican Party to take on the democrats in November`s election.

Since the departure of Ted Cruz and John Kasich from the race it became evident that the NeverTrump movement had run out of steam and many of those who were vehemently opposed to his nomination have now become reluctant supporters.

According to most national polls he remains adrift of Hillary Clinton but in shock polls that came out last week he was leading in two key swing states, Florida and Pennsylvania.

Many people think that Trump will benefit from a public sentiment of anger with elite politicians but it remains to be seen if he can win over enough votes from women and minorities in order to secure the presidency. Tomorrow the republican nominee will give a speech on the closing night of the RNC in Cleveland.

Polls Republican vs Democrat May 19 2016

As Donald Trump continues to consolidate the support of the Republican Party behind him and the "Never Trump" campaign appears to be losing steam, the real estate mogul is now increasingly taking aim at likely democratic candidate Hillary Clinton.

Most pundits believe it is now impossible for Democratic Socialist Bernie Sanders to win the nomination with Hillary Clinton continuing to accumulate delegates despite the Vermont Senator winning quite a few states. Although many of his supporters continue to believe he can somehow overcome the deficit by bringing superdelegates over to his cause, it is time to accept reality. The presidential election will be contested by Trump and Clinton.

With this in mind, it is the time to start focusing on the polls between these two and who is the most likely to become the next president of the United States.

Here are the latest 2 polls and they show a lead for Clinton of between 2-6% over the Republican candidate.

Latest Polls

Gravis (May 10) Sample Size 1574, Margin of Error 2.5%

Hillary Clinton  48%
Donald Trump  46%

PPP (May 6-9) Sample Size 1222, Margin of Error 3.2%

Polls Trump vs Clinton May 19 2016

As the democrats continue to fight amongst themselves with an increasingly bitter confrontation between Hillary and Bernie Sanders, Donald Trump seems to have consolidated his position as the Republican Party`s nominee.

It seems almost certain that Hillary Clinton will end up being the democratic nominee and that then poses the question, what are polls showing in regards to a Clinton-Trump match up?

The Latest Polls show the following results

Gravis (May 10) Sample Size 1574, Margin of Error 2.5%

Hillary Clinton  48%
Donald Trump  46%

PPP (May 6-9) Sample Size 1222, Margin of Error 3.2%

Polls Trump vs Clinton May 5 2016

It now appears that baring some extraordinary development, the presidential race will be contested between Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton. There are many doubts as to how such an election would play out, with many anticipating a chaotic few months leading up to November in the world`s most powerful country.

What is clear is that as of today Clinton has a significant advantage over Donald Trump, the RealClearPolitics average of polls (April 11-May 1) show that Clinton leads by 47.3% to 40.8% over the real estate mogul.

It remains to be seen how much these numbers will change from now until November and Trump has his work cut out for him to overcome this deficit.

Rhode Island Exit Polls Republican Primary 26 April 2016

The tiny state of Rhode Island is often overlooked in Primary Campaigns, both due to its size and also the late date of voting here. This year however things are a little different, every delegate counts and so there is more focus on the state than there would usually be.

Recent polls have shown that Donald Trump is firmly in the lead in this state with anywhere between 38-61%. There are 19 delegates available in the state which are allocated in a proportional manner.

It would appear that Trump has a very good chance of winning in all 5 states as polls show him ahead in all of them. Should this happen he will definitely keep alive his hopes of obtaining the 1,237 delegates that are needed in order to confirm the nomination.

As soon as the first exit polls and results are available for the state of Rhode Island, they will be published here.

Maryland Exit Polls Republican April 26 2016

The last few weeks have been rather hectic in the Republican Primaries, with Ted Cruz winning in Utah, Wisconsin and Colorado. However, businessman Donald Trump had his revenge in New York winning almost all of the available delegates.

In the midst of this, John Kasich continues in the race, despite having won only one state and seemingly having no chance of repeating his victory in Ohio.

Things are now perfectly poised going into yet another "Super Tuesday" on April 26, where a total of 5 states will cast their ballots. If recently polling is to be trusted then it is once again Trump with the upper hand, leading by vast margins in most of these areas.

As soon as the first exit polls and results are available they will be published here.

Exit Polls Pennsylvania Republican April 26 2016

Today the great state of Pennsylvania will be the setting for a Republican Primary of great importance.

The current state of the race is very uncertain with Donald Trump now the only candidate who can realistically reach the 1,237 delegates required in order to secure outright the nomination. However, if he fails to reach this mark then it will go down to a Contested Convention, where anything could happen.

Current delegate count

Donald Trump    845
Ted Cruz           559
John Kasich      148

A total of 71 delegates are available in Pennsylvania, however 54 of these are unbound, meaning that the winner of popular vote is only guaranteed 17 delegates, then it will be up to each individual delegate with regards to who to support.

As soon as the first exit polls and results start coming in from Pennsylvania they will be published here.

Maryland will go to the polls next Tuesday in the Republican Primary which comes at a vital moment during the campaign trial.

Following the Primary in the key state of New York where real state mogul Donald Trump triumphed in spectacular fashion, winning at least 89 delegates out of a total of 95.

If we take the republican polls for the Maryland Primary there is a clear indication that the businessman is greatly favored in the state, which adopts a winner-take-all allocation.

Latest Polls Maryland

PPP (April 5-17) Sample Size 310, Margin of Error 5.7%

Donald Trump   43%
John Kasich     29%
Ted Cruz          24%

New York Exit Polls Republican GOP 19 April 2016

Today the state of New York will go to the polls for the Republican and Democratic Primaries in what is sure to be an eventful election.

On the Republican side entrepreneur Donald Trump is the clear favorite heading into the Primary, given that New York is his home state and current polls have ahead.

Should Trump win by a large margin in all the congressional districts then he has a very good chance of winning the majority of the 95 delegates that the state offers.

Should "The Donald" win then it will certainly be seen as a boost for his campaign after resounding defeats in Utah and Wisconsin.

Republican Polls GOP Maryland April 16 2016 Trump, Cruz

The Maryland Republican Primary comes at a vital point in the race. Donald Trump is leading according to the latest polls with Ted Cruz and John Kasich in a close battle for second place.

RealClearPolitics Average (March 30-April 12)

Donald Trump    40.5%
John Kasich      26.8%
Ted Cruz           24%

This shows that Trump has a lead of 13.7% with just over a week remaining before the vote takes place.

Maryland is a winner-take-all state which makes it all the more important, especially for Trump who needs about 60% of the remaining delegates in order to secure the nomination, for Cruz that number rises to 90%, making it almost impossible for him to win and as for Kasich there are not enough delegates for him to triumph in the primary contest.

The best chance for Cruz and Kasich is to win enough delegates to stop Trump from reaching the 1,237 delegate mark and to force a contested convention.

Republican GOP Polls Pennsylvania April 16 2016

April 26 will be the date for the Pennsylvania Primary when voters will make their choice as to which Republican candidate best represents their views.

A mere 3 candidates remain in the race out of the original 17. It would appear that Donald Trump is the only one who can obtain the 1,237 that are needed, however if he fails to achieve that, then a contested convention looms.

There are a total of 71 delegates on offer in the Keystone State and it is one of five that will go to the polls on this date.

The current RealClearPolitics average shows a clear trend towards Trump

RealClearPolitics Average (March 29-April 12)

Donald Trump   43%
Ted Cruz          27.2%
John Kasich     23.8%

New York Republican GOP Polls April 14 2016

The Republican Primary season is reaching crunch point as various key states go to the polls. Defeats for frontrunner Donald Trump in Wisconsin and Colorado have lowered expectations that Trump will obtain the 1,237 delegates he requires and thus heightening the possibility of a contested convention.

Cruz took all 34 delegates in the state of Colorado which has a complex system and a popular vote didn`t take place, invoking the fury of Trump, "This was a political hack deal, like so much of our country. This is what our country's all about I guess" he complained.

The next state that will go to the polls is New York, where Trump is expected to do well. In his campaign events in the state he has been relentlessly attacking Cruz for a comment he made in one of the televised debates where he said Trump represented New York Values, which was done with "scorn" according to the businessman.

Trump has repeatedly railed against what he views as a corrupt system, which has earned him some powerful enemies from within the establishment, spawning a movement of republicans who call themselves "Never Trump" indicating they will not vote for the real estate mogul, even in the general election.

New York RealClearPolitics Average

Donald Trump   53.6%
John Kasich     21%
Ted Cruz          18.6%

Pennsylvania RealClearPolitics Average (March 29-April 7)

Donald Trump   42.8%
Ted Cruz          27%
John Kasich     24%

New York Republican GOP Polls April 13 2016

After 3 months of what can only be described as a hectic Republican Primary process, we now head to New York.

On April 19 New Yorkers will cast their vote, choosing between the three remaining candidates, Donald Trump, Ted Cuz and John Kasich, being Trump`s home state he is expected to do very well and this is being born out by the latest polls which have him well ahead of his two adversaries.

The recent controversy in Colorado over how delegates are awarded has left many republican voters there infuriated and has only served to add extra spice to the campaign. The state, which has a complicated process for allocating delegates, awarded all 34 to Cruz. Trump couldn`t contain his frustration with the system and lashed out stating "This was a political hack deal, like so much of our country. This is what our country's all about I guess". Every victory for Cruz seems to edge us closer to a contested convention, which would be interesting to say the least.

In New York, however, even with a full week to go until the election, it seems almost impossible to imagine how anyone other than Trump has a chance of winning. The current RealClearPolitics average (March 29-April 10) has the real estate mogul on 53.6%, Followed by Kasich on 21% and 18.6% for Cruz.

Should these numbers hold then Trump has a very good chance of winning the majority of the 95 delegates that New York has on offer.

New York GOP Republican Polls April 9 2016 Trump, Cruz

The focus in the Republican Primary race has now shifted to New York, which is the next state to vote on April 19. New York is considered one of Donald Trump`s main strongholds and the numbers are currently indicating this is without doubt the case.

Polls have been surprisingly consistent showing Trump at just over 50% of the vote.

Monmouth poll 3-5 April, Sample Size 302, Margin of Error 5.6%

Donald Trump    52%
John Kasich      25%
Ted Cruz           17%

CBS News/YouGov 29 March-1 April, Sample Size 657, Margin of Error 5.6%

Donald Trump    52%
Ted Cruz           21%
John Kasich      20%

Quinnipiac March 22-29, Sample Size 457, Margin of Error 4.6%

Donald Trump    56%
Ted Cruz           20%
John Kasich      19%

Republican GOP Polls April 9 2016 Trump, Cruz

Following a massive victory for Ted Cruz in Wisconsin the next stop on the Republican campaign trail is New York.

Donald Trump who is based in New York has a massive amount of support in the state and it would be almost inconceivable to see him being beaten here, it all depends now on the margin of victory.

In Trump`s latest events he has been doubling down on a moment in the debates when Cruz criticized New York Values.

A new poll out within the last few days shows Trump well out in front with Kasich and Cruz a distant second and third.

Monmouth poll 3-5 April, Sample Size 302, Margin of Error 5.6%

Donald Trump    52%
John Kasich      25%
Ted Cruz           17%

New York Republican GOP Polls April 7 2016 Trump, Cruz

On Tuesday Texas Senator Ted Cruz scored a crushing win in the State of Wisconsin, picking up 48.2% of the vote, compared with 35.1% for Donald Trump. John Kasich came in third with 14.1%.

This now makes it even harder for Trump to obtain the 1,237 delegates that he requires in order to be confirmed as the Republican Partys nominee.

According to AP the current delegate count is now as following:

Donald Trump    743
Ted Cruz           517
John Kasich      143

Now all eyes will be on New York, which is the next state to vote on April 19, as a winner-take-most state, delegates are awarded on a proportional basis, unless a candidate secures more than 50% of the vote and in these case takes all of them.

The latest polls in New York show Trump with a commanding lead.

CBS News/YouGov Poll March 29-April 1, Sample Size 657, Margin of Error 5.6%

Donald Trump    52%
Ted Cruz           21%
John Kasich      20%

Quinnipiac Poll March 22-29, Sample Size 457, Margin of Error 4.6%

Donald Trump    56%
Ted Cruz           20%
John Kasich      19%
