Ohio Republican Poll GOP March 12 2016

Ohio will vote on March 15 in what is seen as a vital contest within the race for the republican nomination.

According to the RealClearPolitics average of polls it shows a very tight battle between Trump and Kasich, who is the current governor. Trump is at 36.5% almost tied with Kasich on 34%. Cruz and Rubio have little chance of making an impact, at 16.3% and 7% respectively.

The format of the distribution of delegates is winner-take-all, making the battle between Trump and Kasich all the more significant. Should Kasich tip Trump then it could arrest his momentum somewhat and raise the hopes of those who are hoping for a brokered convention in order to wrestle the nomination away from the business mogul.

Inversely, should Trump take Ohio as well as Florida then it would strengthen his position massively.

Republican Poll GOP Illinois March 12 2016

Illinois goes to the polls on March 15 and 69 delegates are available in the state. According to the latest polls Donald Trump is likely to be victorious.

The RealClearPolitics average has Trump ahead of the rest of the field on 32.7%, Florida Senator Marco Rubio is second on 18.7%, Ted Cruz comes in third at 17.7% and John Kasich at 13.3%.

Republican Poll GOP Florida March 12 2016

We are just days away from what for many is seen as a pivotal moment in the Republican Primaries, namely, Florida.

With so many delegates up for grabs (a total of 99) winning the state can change an election campaign. More importantly, these delegates are awarded on a winner-take-all basis, unlike Texas for example, where they are awarded proportionally.

A new poll conducted by Lakeland Ledger / 10News WTSP shows that the gap between Trump and Rubio has tightened somewhat. Donald Trump holds a 36%-30 lead over Rubio, followed by Texas Senator Ted Cruz at 17% and John Kasich at 8%..

Rubio draws significant support from Hispanic voters (62%) whereas Trump leads the Florida Senator among white voters by 40%-24%.

Poll Florida Republican GOP March 11 2016

The poll of 813 likely voters shows the business mogul on 42%, well ahead of Marco Rubio on 20%. Ted Cruz is in third place with 16% and Kasich has 10%.

If these numbers end up being true on March 15, the day in which Florida goes to polls alongside 4 other states, then it looks like it will be a happy day in the Trump camp.

Trump needs 1,237 delegates to be sure of winning the nomination and avoid a contested convention.

Who Won the Republican Debate February 2016

The republican debate in South Carolina turned ugly on Saturday night with just one week left until voters in the key state go to the polls.

The candidates repeatedly clashed and threw accusations back and forth, the audience also chimed in regularly booing. Trump called Cruz a "liar" and "a nasty guy" as the Texas senator took aim at the current frontrunner. Trump also called into question the validity of the Iraq war, sparking a heated argument with Jeb Bush.

It would be hard to pick a winner in the debate, but Trump will probably be less concerned at the course of the debate took as the other candidates and audience seemed to gang up on him and reinforce his narrative of being the anti establishment candidate, also Trump's combative ways are no secret and our actually what has endeared him to many voters sick of establishment politics. He did risk alienating some of his base who are fiercely opposed to Planned Parenthood saying "it does do wonderful things" but swiftly added "not as it relates to abortion".

Cruz also attacked Trump's liberal record saying "his entire life he's supported liberals from Jimmy Carter to Hilary Clinton to John Kerry", adding "in 2004 he contributed to John Kerry".

Ben Carson who a few months ago saw a surge and was the main contender to Trump, seemed lost within the debate whereas Kasich attempted to portray himself as a more serious candidate focusing on the issues as the chaos unfolded.

Rubio had a few tussles with Cruz early on but the moderators seemed to give him an easier time.

Hard to pick a winner from the debate, Carson would probably be the loser but due to his low numbers he has already become somewhat of an irrelevance.
