As far as swing states go, Florida is the most important, it is definitely a must win state for the Republican candidate for president, Donald Trump.

RealClearPolitics Average Florida (Polls conducted between September 7-29)

Donald Trump 43.8%
In 2012 it was President Barack Obama who won the state which switches every now and again between Republican and Democrat.

Presidential Debate Time September 26 2016 California
With less than a week left until the first presidential debate takes place between Republican Donald Trump and Democrat Hillary Clinton, nerves are being frayed.
It has been reported by The Washington Times that Hillary Clinton is preparing obsessively for the debates, pouring over politicy papers and readying herself for anything that the boisterous businessman can throw her way.
Trump on the other hand is reportedly taking a more relaxed approach, meeting informally with his advisors for Sunday lunch where they chat over possible attacks that he can land on Clinton.
The debate is scheduled to being at 9pm ET, this will make it 6pm in California.
Lester Holt from NBC will moderate this first debate, which over 100 million Americans are expected to watch.

Iowa Polls Trump vs Clinton September 2016
According to new polls Donald Trump is making serious inroads in Iowa, long considered one of the most volatile swing states in the country, Hillary Clinton boasted a lead of 5% here just a few months ago, however a new poll has the real estate mogul 8 points ahead.
Trump appears to be gaining great support among white voters in the state especially among the working class. Iowa is 92% white and many seem to have become disillusioned with the direction the country is taking and so have opted for a change. President Obama had 2 relatively comfortable wins here in 2008 and 2012 after 2 very close elections in 2000 and 2004.
There are a mere 6 electoral college votes available in the state, which would only make a difference in the case of a very tight race. Many commentators believe that winning here is much more important for Trump, as his path to victory is much more difficult than Clinton`s.

Poll Trump vs Clinton September 10 2016
It seems like an age ago that the presidential campaign began with both the Republican and Democrat primaries, however we are now approaching the end of this long process, just 2 months remain until voters go to the polls to decide who will become the most powerful human on earth.
It is safe to say that this has been one of the most polarizing campaigns in recent history, with both candidates having a very high disapproval rating. Trump having has a definite core number of supporters who are very enthusiastic, he has been able to fill stadiums full of 20-30 thousand supporters, whereas the support for Clinton has been more tepid, people mainly are supporting her due to their hatred for Trump.
With the battle lines drawn and the campaign reaching fever pitch, the polls appear to be tightening. Clinton had been leading by a significant margin for most of the last few months, but now polls appear to show her only 1-2% ahead of Trump.
Latest Polls show the race is tightening.
LA Times/USC Tracking (September 2-8), Sample Size 2653 Likely voters, Margin of Error 4.5%
Hillary Clinton 45%
Donald Trump 44%
Economist/YouGov (September 4-6), Sample Size 955 Registered voters, Margin of Error 4.7%
Hillary Clinton 44%
Donald Trump 42%
Poll Trump vs Clinton September 9 2016
Donald Trump continues to close the gap with Hillary Clinton, according to the RealClearPolitics average, he is now just 2.8% behind.
RealClearPolitics Average
Hillary Clinton 45.6%
Donald Trump 42.8%
Usually at this stage in a presidential race, the numbers start to tighten, so it is to be expected that the race will end up being closer than some of the polls have suggested.
Although Clinton has been leading in most polls, some people have questioned the veracity of the methods used, as some samples have been +15 democrat, which gives a skewed vision of the support of both candidates they claim.
One of the vital aspects of this election campaign may well be the debates, with record numbers expected to tune in. The first debate will take place on September 26.

RealClearPolitics Average (Last 9 polls conducted between August 25- September 5)
Hillary Clinton 46.2%
Donald Trump 42.9%
Usually this is the time when the race begins to get closer, so we could expect to see these numbers tightening in the next month or so, depending on what occurs within the campaign.

Poll Trump vs Clinton September 6 2016
New polling data would appear to indicate that Donald Trump has managed to chip into Hillary Clinton`s lead slightly.
A few weeks ago the RealClearPolitics Average had her 6 points in front, whereas today that lead has shrunk to just 3.9 points.
RealClearPolitics Average (August 22- September 2)
Hillary Clinton 46.0%
Donald Trump 42.1%
Many Trump critics have pointed to his inability to exceed 42-43% in the polls, suggesting that this may be his ceiling. The businessman was briefing leading in opinion polls following the RNC, however this bump quickly evaporated and Clinton once again retook the lead.
The first presidential debate will take place on September 26 and with many people still undecided, it could prove to be a decisive moment in the campaign.

Latest Polls Trump vs Clinton August 27 2016
Polling data collected over the last few weeks continues to show Hillary Clinton with a substantial lead over Republican candidate and real estate mogul Donald Trump.
The only reliable poll during the month of august that will bring any cheer to the Trump camp is one conducted by LA Times/USC which shows him tied with Clinton, all others show Clinton with a lead of between 3-10 points.
RealClearPolitics (average based on all reliable polls conducted between 1-24 August)
Hillary Clinton 47.7%
Donald Trump 41.7%
Clinton leading by 6 points.
It must be noted that many questions have been raised by certain sections of Trump supporters as to the reliability of the polling methods employed as of late, claiming them to be heavily weighted in favor of democrat voters.
Trump no doubt received a significant bounce following the RNC in July which actually showed him leading nationally in many polls, however since the DNC took place he seems to have fallen away and been unable to close the gap once more.

Republican vs Democrat Polls August 2016
A new poll conducted by FOX News shows that following the DNC would appear to indicate that Hillary Clinton has experienced a large bounce showing her up 10 points.
Trump`s campaign chairman Paul Manafort being interviewing on "CBS This Morning" downplayed the significance of the poll, saying that the drop "was expected". "It depends on which poll you look at. We feel like in another week or so, the polls are going to even out,", "We always thought we had a bounce and knew the Democrats would have a bounce. And now you see a situation in what looks like an uneven field but in two weeks we think that’s gonna even out if we are out there on our message, which we will be" he continued.
