Republican Polls GOP Maryland April 16 2016 Trump, Cruz

The Maryland Republican Primary comes at a vital point in the race. Donald Trump is leading according to the latest polls with Ted Cruz and John Kasich in a close battle for second place.

RealClearPolitics Average (March 30-April 12)

Donald Trump    40.5%
John Kasich      26.8%
Ted Cruz           24%

This shows that Trump has a lead of 13.7% with just over a week remaining before the vote takes place.

Maryland is a winner-take-all state which makes it all the more important, especially for Trump who needs about 60% of the remaining delegates in order to secure the nomination, for Cruz that number rises to 90%, making it almost impossible for him to win and as for Kasich there are not enough delegates for him to triumph in the primary contest.

The best chance for Cruz and Kasich is to win enough delegates to stop Trump from reaching the 1,237 delegate mark and to force a contested convention.
